BABY ALPACA

For those wondering why it's called ‘baby’, it's not actually related to the animal’s age! In fact, it refers to the grading of the finest fiber that comes from the adult alpaca’s chest area.

Due to structural differences in the hair fibers, ultra gentle and silky Baby Alpaca is more lightweight yet warmer than Merino Wool. It’s also hypoallergenic which means it doesn't contain lanolin, making it a great alternative for those with sensitive skin. Plus it’s water-repellent and can retain warmth when wet. Our choice of material for soft and cozy yet hardwearing garments meant to be worn outdoors, rain or shine.

FUN FACT: In Inca times, Baby Alpaca Wool was valued more than gold, and only the kings would wear it!

For our garments we choose natural and renewable fibers that are completely biodegradable at the end of their life and therefore kinder to the environment. You can remove any label and button if present and throw in the compost bin.

MERINO

Known for being warm, tender and non-irritating, Merino Wool is a yarn that insulates, absorbs body moisture and breathes when worn. Due to its notable breathability, Merino Wool will keep the body dry by absorbing any excess moisture from the skin. Enjoy the benefits of being warm when it’s cold and cool when it’s hot!

Combined with antimicrobial properties, this wool outperforms other animal fibers when it comes to odor resistance. For this reason, it doesn’t need to be washed that frequently.

It is also wrinkle-resistant, water-repellent and flame-retardant.

Our Merino Yarns are produced by Uruguayan farmers that shepherd their sheep using age-old practices.

We choose to work only with suppliers of yarn who treat their animals with utmost respect and who do not perform the cruel practice of mulesing.

BABY MERINO

Our Baby Merino wool is a super fine wool bred for generations by farmers in Northern Uruguay. A supersoft and itch-free yarn perfectly suited to delicate baby skin. For this reason this is our yarn of choice when creating garments meant to be worn directly on the skin. The softness of this yarn is simply unparalleled, and creates a fabric that is the very definition of comfort.

For our first collection we have chosen to work with yarns carefully hand-dyed by a family-owned company located in Uruguay and Peru. All colors are inspired by nature, places and art. The special dye techniques used result in marbled colour variations that are wonderfully rich and deep.

MERIPACA

What  happens when you mix 50% Uruguayan Merino wool with 50% Peruvian Baby Alpaca? You are  left with a special and unique yarn that we like to call Meripaca.

Baby Alpaca, one of the most precious wools; and Merino, a highly breathable fiber, when combined result in a yarn that is as versatile as it is beautiful. The high quality of this yarn can be felt in the garment with a very distinctive soft and delicious hand-feel.

The special qualities of these fibers perfectly blend to create a garment that is practical and wearable.
